Celebrating Charlie and Lola at the British Film Institute with Lauren Child

Last weekend we celebrated 25 years of Lauren Child’s Charlie and Lola at the BFI

The day commenced with Charlie and Lola-themed coloring and the opportunity to have your picture taken next to Charlie and Lola. In the mediatheque, attendees watched media that influenced Lauren while writing Charlie and Lola.

The screening showcased some of Lauren's favorite episodes of Charlie and Lola and featured a Q+A with Lauren, some of the grown-up cast, the director, and the head of animation. These opened some fascinating conversations about the behind-the-scenes process of developing a show that had such a huge impact.  They also shared the first iteration of the iconic Charlie and Lola theme song, with the composers of the song explaining how they developed it. Lauren ended the day with a book signing where it became clear that Charlie and Lola still has such a huge multigenerational appeal.
